Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information is collected when you use judeiria.com, why it is collected, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR.

1. Who is responsible for your data

This website belongs to Jude Iria, based in Lagos, Nigeria ("I", "me", "my"). I am the data controller for information collected through this site. You can reach me about anything in this policy at ji@judeiria.com.

2. Information I collect

Information you choose to give me

• Newsletter: your email address when you subscribe. The signup form sends you to Substack, which manages the list.
• Bookings: your name, email and anything you add when you book a discovery session through Cal.com.
• Messages: your name, contact details and message content when you email me, send a speaking request or contact me on WhatsApp.
• Purchases: order and delivery details when you buy a book. Checkout and payment happen on Selar. I never see or store your card details.

Information collected automatically

• Server logs: my hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of visit, to keep the site secure and running.
• Preferences: your cookie choice is saved in your browser so the banner doesn't keep reappearing.
• Privacy-friendly analytics: where enabled, Umami counts page visits without cookies and without collecting information that identifies you.
• Analytics (only with consent): if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as pages viewed and approximate location. See the cookie policy.

3. Why I use it, and the legal basis

I do not sell your personal information, and I do not use it for automated decisions that have legal effects on you.

4. Services that process data for me

Some information is handled by trusted providers who run parts of this site. Each one has its own privacy policy, which applies when you use their service:

• Substack for the newsletter
• Cal.com for booking discovery sessions
• Selar for book sales, payment and delivery
• WhatsApp (Meta) for messages you send me there
• My website hosting provider for serving the site and security logs
• Umami for cookieless visit statistics, where enabled
• Google Analytics, only if analytics is switched on and you consent

5. International transfers

Some of these providers store data outside Nigeria, the UK or the EU, including in the United States. Where that happens, I rely on the safeguards the provider offers, such as standard contractual clauses, as permitted by applicable data protection law.

6. How long I keep it

• Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.
• Booking and client records: for as long as we work together, then up to six years for tax and legal records.
• Messages: up to two years after our last contact, unless they become part of a client record.
• Analytics data: up to fourteen months.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you
• ask me to correct or delete it
• object to or restrict how I use it
• ask for your data in a portable format
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before
• complain to a data protection authority, such as the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or the authority in your EU country

8. Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information online. Youth programmes run through Eleazar Alliance handle participant information separately, with the involvement of parents, guardians or schools.

9. Security

The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, uses strict browser security headers, and does not store payment details. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information.

10. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
